November 27th – day 159
Ken and Sheila Burk, members of the Crankhandle Club are our guide today.
We follow them in their blue Deux Chevaux Citroën.
We drive from the campsite through the mountains to Cape Point, the most southern point of Cape of Good Hope.
During this trip we see whales and containerships.
Dirk and Dirk-jan make a walk to Cape Point.
Now we get the last part of our trip toCape Town.
For the last time Inge as co-driver in the Model T.
At 6 o clock PM we arrive at the weekend house of Louise and Greg, where we can stay the next days. Louise and Greg are members of the Crank handle Club inCape Town.
To morrow evening we have a meeting at their clubhouse.
Today we have driven 134 km.

November 26th – day 158
Dirk has to arrange the shipping of the cars; that’s why he made an outside office.
Up toCape Town. Today Dirk-jan and Inge are the crew of the Model T.
We have a beautiful route along the Ocean.
And of course a beautiful place for the lunch
Dirk is looking for whales, but no whales today.
NearbyCape Town at Summerset West, we visit Hans, a friend of Inge’s father.
Up to the campsite in Cape Town.
A lot of wind and sand during this last part of this trip.
At the campsite we got a visit of Ken and Sheila Burke in their Model T.
They are members of a vintage car club in Cape Town; the Crankhandle Club.
For the first time during our trip in Africa we have dinner inside the tent, because of the wind.
Today we have driven 206 km.

November 25th – day 157
Sunday 25 November.
Dirk mounts the club emblem on the Model T
Today Dirk-jan drives the Model T. He is very happy with it.
Inge and Trudy are in the Land Rover, up to Cape Agulhas, the most southern point of Africa
During the day I accompany Dirk-jan in the Model T. The wind is cold, so I nee warm clothes.
It is a beautiful trip, we see some Austria’s and crane birds.
In the afternoon we arrive at Cape Agulhas
After lunch we go to Gansbaai. We decided to take a short cut by gravel road.
Dirk makes a movie at the roof of the Land Rover.
During the trip we see a sign of a guesthouse and decide to visit it. To get there we have to go on a very bumpy road.
Nobody is at home, so we go back to the road to look for another place to sleep.
Finally we find a campsite in Gansbaai
Today we have driven 271 km.

November 24th – day 156
Saturday 24 November
The morning start sunny, we enjoy the nice hotel view
When we leave it starts to rain.
The wind is to strong and it is too cold to have lunch outside, so we drink hot chocolate and eat warm bread at the fuel station
During the day the sky is getting more clear.
We also see some elephants.
There is a very strong wind, at one moment the wind lifts the Model T.
We find a nice cottage in Heidelberg called Willow Tree.
Today we have driven 189 km.
Tomorrow we will go to Cape Agulhas, the most southern point of Africa.

November 23rd – day 155
Friday 23 november
Today we go to George.
In Sedgefield some people of the SouthernCapeOldCarClub are waiting for us at the petrol station.
They bring us to the hotel.
Dirk-jan drives with Karen in her the 1911 Runabout.
After a quick lunch we go to Kobus Halliday, he has a big car collection.
In his backyard are some rhino’s. Very special!
In the evening we are invited for a Braai at the clubhouse,
When we arrive, more model T’s are waiting, a very nice view.
Dirk gets a original Club nameplate for on his model T.
Back to the hotel Inge rides with Philips 1915 model T.
It was very nice to be invited here, we had lot of fun.
Today we did 102km.
Tomorrow we go in the direction of Cape Aghulas.
November 22nd – day 154
Thursday 22 November.
Dirk-jan and Inge go at 7 o clock AM for a morning walk along the Indian Ocean.
They have told us yesterday that at 8 o clock the penguins will be feed near the light house.
Nobody near the light house, but they see a couple of penguins.
They make a beautiful walk along the seaside.
Today we will visit Colin Ferreira, who helped us with finding tyres in South Africa for our Model T.
We will meet at a round abound and he will wait in his “witte bakkie”; a white pick up.
Almost everybody with a car has a “witte bakkie”
Colin has a couple of vintage cars in his garage; Ford Model A, MG and Mercedes.
He all restored them by himself.
After a cup of coffee we continue our way after making a photo of Colin and his wife Westhi.

Dirk-jan drives very fast today; about 88 km per hour.
During the lunch Dirk en Dirk-jan decided to change the right front en rear tyres because the front tyre was worn down a lot.
Continuing our trip the weather gets colder and Inge decided to put on more clothes.
At 16.45 PM. we arrive in Plettenbergbaai, and we find a nice place for our camp at the Indian Ocean.
During the dinner Trudy get accompany of a peacock; he likes her food.
Also Dirk has a new friend.
Today we drove 176 km.
Tomorrow we go to George.

November 21st – day 153
Wednesday 21 november
It rained a lot during the night.
When we wake up it is dry, so we pack our tent. After this it starts raining again.
Dirk puts on his raincoat and services the Ford.
Inge and Trudy make a lovely breakfast.
At 10.00 we leave, today we go to Cape St Francis, about 240km.
Dirk and Trudy put on their rain clothes, it rains very hard.
We ride through Port Elizabeth, a real big city. The wind is getting very strong, so we put the roof down, it moves to much.
The further we go to Cape St Francis, the better the weather.
On the road to the campsite we drive along the Indian Ocean, a wonderful view!
At 17.30 we arrive at the campsite.
We put our tents up and go for a beach walk.
Nearby the lighthouse the waves smashes to the rocks.
Today we drove 279 km.
Tomorrow we go to Plettenbergbaai.

November 20 – day 152
Tuesday 20 November
In the garden is a big pool, Inge does some swimming there, she gets company of a frog..
Because the left front tyre is worn on one side, Dirk swaps the front tyres.
Jennifer has a beautiful garden with many roses, also a lot of animals around the house: donkeys, pigs, dogs, goats and chickens.
There is also a Porsche cabriolet from 1967. When the weather is nice she rides with it
At 9.45 we leave in the direction of Port Alfred, after a tankstop Dirk and Dirk-jan leave first, so Inge can go full throttle with the LandRover, she likes that!
The hills are very steep again, with signs they advice trucks to go in low gear, with the model T we do the same.
Colourfull villages.
Lots of roadblocks.
Roadworkers like the model T, enthusiastic reactions.
When we start again after a short stop, the camera falls of the car. When we go back we find all the parts; battery and SD card. Trudy makes a little dance.
The wheel of a big truck throws a stone at the window. It gives a big bang!
Now and then the Ocean shows up!
In Port Alfred we search for a campsite following the signs, but suddenly the road stops..
In the end we arrive at the campsite, but the owner tells us that it is closed.
This is because of very heavy rainfall. 600mm in one week, the campsite is flushed away.
He tells us the way to another site.
At 18.00 we arrive there.
We drove 258km.
Tomorrow we go to Francis bay.

November 19th – day 151
Monday 19 November
At the campsite there is also “Das rollende hotel”.
It is a big bus, with a trailer behind it, with 34 sleeping places in it!
Each window is a bed. They are making a round tour of 43 days with 28 people, most of them are German.
Matthias joins this tour and gives a donation for SOS.
Dirk searches the spare lightbulbs for the Ford, he checks the LandRover magazine, but without any result. Finally he finds them at the back of the Ford..
At 10 we leave, beautiful roads again.
According to Dirk, the front crankshaft bearing makes more noise today. Dirk-jan joins him in the Ford to listen to the engine.
Dirk-jan thinks it is not worse than the days before, so we drive along.
Inge joins Dirk-jan in the model T to have some wind in the hairs.
Some parts are very steep, up to 2000m sometimes.
Every morning a lot of stuff has to be put in the car, in the morning the backseat of the LandRover is quite organised, but during the day it’s getting worse..
At 17.45 we arrive in Cathcart.
We sleep at Jennifers Backpackersplace, we can use the kitchen and one sleeping room for free. No big tent building today.
Today we drove 297 km.
Tomorrow we go further to the IndianOcean.
