Blasting down the highway
Before we drove onto the highway towards Almaty, we drove into a parking lot with a concrete maintenance bridge. Dirk spotted this yesterday. He went here to change the oil filter of the Model T. He had prepared it well and was able to work continuously. We were able to take pictures of the underside here.
The route was clearly marked along the way. We passed a camel farm and a wide river. We drove through a steppe landscape. On the left a large mountain range with snow-capped peaks.
The landscape changed to desert with sand dunes.
We were driving along and then a huge bang. A blowout right rear tire of the Land Rover. The Model T was already out of sight. And there we were. Searched for planks in the desert because the Land Rover was on a slightly inclined plane to give the jack some height. A truck driver came to the rescue. And Dirk arrived a little later with a truck, he had hitched a ride. The three of us managed to change the rear tire.
10 km further on, Trudy was waiting for us with the Model T.
Then we can drive on again. We would like to reach Almaty. Still about 200 km to go. The landscape changed into hay fields and agricultural fields.
We arrive in Almaty on the ring road.
The four of us completed the first stage of the Model T Worldtour.
Cheers!!
