Today is the day, the last travel day of the Model T world tour. We are going to Edam!
Dirk-jan and I have already been on this world tour several times, we think it is special to end this last part with our children. Despite the long travel days, they did a fantastic job. Over the past 2 weeks we have seen beautiful and varied landscapes. So nice to see when you cross a border, that nature and buildings immediately look different. We have spent the night in very different places and experienced exciting adventures.
This morning, we packed all our stuff for the last time and tied it to the roof. At 10.30 we leave and refuel at the nearest gas station. We continue our way first on the highway towards Vianen and then towards Hilversum. There we eat a sandwich. Now another 2.5 hours to get to Edam. We drive through Amsterdam East towards Durgerdam, and eventually we drive on the N247 and stop at the Simone farm, it is not yet 16.00 and we still have time for an ice cream. Simon installs himself in the back with his accordion to play country road when we enter Edam. There is a large reception committee ready, super fun! We drive over the Groenlandje towards the funfair, the ring tilting is even interrupted to welcome us in. We were welcomed with champagne, Dirk and Trudy were nicely addressed.
Then to the Achterhaven where there are many more people waiting, and everything was beautifully decorated.
We chatted with everyone for a long time.
Now let everything sink in and enjoy being home and maybe even go to the funfair…
Today we drove 139 km
As a follow-up team we drove a total of 2131 km, it was a wonderful experience, terribly beautiful countries, roads and people, and above all very cozy!
i just wanna say
