Friday 2th november
Today we go towards the Botswana border, we leave the campsite at 10.30.
We have some gravel roads.
We drive trough Bwabwata National Park, an Elephant crosses our way. Dirk comes very close with the Ford and the elephant is a little disturbed by it.
At 11.45 we arrive at the border. It is the most relaxed border we had in Africa.
To enter Botswana is also very easy.
In the first village we visit an ATM. The currency in Botswana is Pula, translated as rain. 10 Pula is 1 euro.
In the supermarket we buy some cakes for the coffee stop, now that’s luxury.
The road is very good, here in Botswana they even have some speed controls
To go to the campsite we planned, its the last one before a 150km road to Maun, we must go 15kms off road. The sign of the Campsite mentions; 4×4 only.
We are pigheaded, so we want to try.
But after a few km we get stuck in the deep loose sand.
We pull the Ford with the Land Rover, but after a while we decide to turn around, and search for another accommodation.
In about 45min it will be dark.
After a few km we see a sign that mentions an accommodation, so we go off the road.
It seems to be a mission post.
There is no one around there, but after asking a few people we can build our camp in the mission area.
When we unpack the cars a man comes to us, and he seems to be the owner. He allows us to stay in a house as well. We do!
It is getting dark already, Inge and Trudy make a quick meal and Dirk and Dirk-jan prepare the roof tent.
Today we did 176km, tomorrow we go to Maun.
