Report 22 October
By Liza
We leave Ushuaia and say goodbye to our dear friends. For a while we drive through the astonishing landscape with mountains and snow.
We will drive a long way to the North and pass the border with Chili.
On our way we stop for our daily cup of coffee at a special place. And the wet shoes from last night can dry for a while.
Patagonia is known for its rough winds, which mainly Dirk and Trudy notice. The roadmap was blown away, but luckily saved.
We have been driving a long way, but no luck so far with finding a place to sleep, so we continue driving.
Finally we see a small place Cerro Sombrero and we see a hotel along the road. It´s full. It´s a place with mainly workers and for them there are hostals. We are being led to a place where the workingman are having a strong meal.
Trudy and I ask inside for a place to sleep and behind me I hear some giggling. De chef of the kitchen is very friendly and writes down the name of Senora Lucia, she will probably have a place to stay. He tries to explain where it is, but we don’t understands, so he takes his car and shows us the way.
We arrive at a small wooden house with colourful walls, curtains and sheets. The strong wind is whistling through the holes of the house and the windows which are taped.
There are four beds, so we are happy!
Somewhere nearby should be a place to eat we understand, but we don’t see a sign with restaurant on it.
We ask around and again we are being shown the way to a door from a normal looking house with behind there a restaurant. We are the only guests and they make a meal especially for us.
Delicious and happy!
The next morning we have breakfast and the same place, the most rich breakfast till now.
Thank you!
