Report of 31 July
Report by Karin and Simon
Before having breakfast Simon and Karin go to the local market to buy some bread. The activities in the streets start early. After having dealt with the garage door, the Hotel keeper could not find the key, we can continue our trip.
After 20 miles we have our coffee break, Dirk tells us he doesn’t want to go on driving with the Model T because he hears a strange noise. He is afraid there is something wrong. We have to put the Model T behind the Landrover, and connect it with a triangle. We re-arrange the luggage and together we drive towards Lake Titicaca and Puno.
After a very bad road, difficult to drive especially when the 2 cars are connected, and after many police- controls, we reach Lake Titicaca. It is a huge lake, and a beautiful sight with mountains in the background. At 5 we decide to find a hotel, but finding one with a garage is difficult. Al last with help of a taxi driver we find a hospadenja (one star hotel), and we can leave the cars at his place, save behind a fence. After a good meal in a “Pollo” (chicken) restaurant we go to bed.
